Coyote Moon

I learned a trick about breaking out of a "mental block" or slump which is to buy postcards you like of local scenes and try to beat them (shoot a better composition, detail, ect…). It is a great way to stimulate creativity when all else fails. I have a crazy one of a full moon with cactus flowers, it is definitely a PS creation. It has been on my desk for months and I finally grabbed a decent full moon early in the morning yesterday.

My top layer is a shot from the Superstition Mountains which makes me smile as I can think of no better combination with a full moon. I lined up the shadow of the cactus with the moon and was feeling pretty good about the results so I scrapped the huge cactus flowers as I thought it was over the top, hence creativity starts to take over. For those keeping score at home some wild Mexican Gold Poppies are there to complete the theme, so no points deducted (self graded). I also decided on a square crop, that kills any hope for future work as a postcard photographer or maybe Dusty has invented the square postcard.

I wanted to share this as I know sometimes we scratch our heads thinking everything in the world has been photographed, it has so get over it! See postcard below.
