Shame that they stop, they all gona be replacet for rockets :( Space Shuttle is far more beautifull

@Laygolas: Not if i did that first ;)

Laygolas: The end of a golden era for space exploration? How much actual exploration was done with the shuttles? Their replacements will do far more exploration and advancement in the field than they ever did. As the name says, they were just shuttles, after all. Of course that doesn't mean I won't miss them, as Dutch-builder says they're much more elegant than their successors are.

Yeah I'd have to agree. The shuttle was a neat idea in theory, but terrible in execution. Every flight ended up costing way way more than if we had just continued using the Saturn V launch system. Not to mention it killed 14 people verus just 3 for the Saturn.

The shuttle has a lot of romance about it, but little real value to actual exploration. I'm glad it's being retired. My only complaint is that it's being put down with no suitable replacement ready to go. Now that's something to be upset about.

The fine folks @ LEGO built one for us at Brick Magic this past weekend and had it on display at the convention.

Hate to burst everyones bubbles, but they might end up using the new reinforced macaroni bricks for the shuttle. That looks like a lot of macaroni in there that can't be offset :( Everything else considered, this looks like a great set.

Well that does it. My day is ruined. Now I can't possibly even think of purchasing this set.

I love it. It's my summer buy. The arm is fantastic, and building every dark orange color scheme with my complement of pieces from www.rarebricks.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/bounty-hunt... is wearing on me.

Look at the black part of the cones on the booster rockets! Haven't seen that element since Time Cruisers!!!

That being said, whoever decided on the little clarinet elevator music for the Design Team videos needs to be fired. I don't care if they are in Europe! :<

  17. Aphylliate 58 months ago | reply

^That is not elevator music. That is big band jazz. Although the music does not fit that well with the video, I am actually quite insulted because I play clarinet at Grade 7.

Just finished building the one I bought from my local lego store. Freaking fantastic set. On par with Emerald Night, Imperial Flagship, and the Grand Emporium in build quality.
