Following the Colorado River south from my previous photo at Glen Canyon Dam, you will get to Horseshoe Bend.
The eroding water has created a large horseshoe shaped bend (hence the name) in the landscape. To get there you have to make a pretty steep hike over a hill near the parking lot, from there it's an easy walk down to the bend. The hike back however is up hill again ;)

The photo is taken with an extreme wideangle lens, so it doesn't show how immense this bend really is. A spectacular sight!

Unfortunately the strong wind bombarded my camera with sand and small rocks, so I decided to take only a few quick shots before heading back to the hotel again to clean my camerabag inside out.

Just to give you an impression of the sheer scale of this mighty bend in the Colorado River, I magnified a piece of this photo. The 2 dark spots in the magnification are actual people.

Heel erg mooi!!
