Cherries

See the large version of Cherries

This is one of several photos, Wes and I took of the cherries for a food blog by Wes' fiance, Cherie. The food blog is called Cherie Picked, and these are the cherries she picked out for the photo.

This photo is my personal favorite of out of the bunch. We tried shooting them from up top with two soft light sources from each side to reduce harsh shadows. We shot these profiles with both a black and a white background.

My only complaint is that I wish I had used a higher aperture to get more depth of field. It's a minor annoyance but something to fix going forward... hopefully.

    Strobist details:
    Canon 50D, 24-105mm f/4 @ f/5.6, 58mm, 1/100s, ISO 100
580EX II @ 1/8th gelled with 1/2 CTO soften with a Lastolite softbox. Positioned: Right above camera and slightly to the right.

Very nice shot, the red really punches, and great flash placement.
