Dublin High School hosted its annual Black History Program Feb. 23 in the school auditorium. The theme, “A Legacy of Strength - A Future of Hope,” played out across the program, from interpretive dances and monologues to keynote speaker Enow Take Ayuk’s address to students to “be more.” The program included performances by the DHS Jazz Band, DHS Chorus, Mrs. Pat Brock (“Ain’t I Woman”), Precious Hall (“Eye on the Sparrow”), Kennedy Blackwell-Lewis, Ny’Kyaja Coney, Daveshia Walker, Zapporah Charleston, Sydney Price (Dance - “I was Here”), Nyema Graham (Poem), Nyia Mainor (Dance - “Glory”) and a special performance by teachers Erica Johnson and Arthur Adkins. Ayuk, a senior Biology major at Savannah State University, charged the students to crack the shell on their lives and allow themselves to be “more.”
