11-70 The Workhouse, Union Road, Thorne South Yorkshire

This wing of the workhouse building adjoins Union Road. It is evidently an addition to the original house and the doorway on the upper floor may indicate that it was originally a store. For the past sixty years or more this has been the headquarters of the local Sea Cadet Corps and bears the name "T.S. Gambia" (Training Ship). The building on the extreme left is on the opposite side of the road and was part of the offices of Richard Dunston Ltd., ship builders, who were established in the town in the 1850s
