Southern Nobility

Holga 120n

Kodak Portra 400

I was able to stop and talk to the owners of this house for a little bit. The house was built around 1900. They have stabilized the house and would like to restore it. On the side of the house where the porch has collapsed, there were columns similiar to the front porch. I bet this place was grand back in the day, and I'd love to find some pictures of it in its prime.

Some history I've been able to find: The house was built around 1890 by Keebler H. and Hester Byrd Harville. Originally a 1 story house, the upper levels were added to accomodate their growing family. They had 10 children:Kate, Ruth, Sam, Virgil, Terrell, Slydel, Myrtis, Naomi, Nancy and Lucille. The last two people to live in the house were Nancy and Naomi Harville. Naomi died is 1967 and Nancy in 1976. An interesting fact is that Keebler Harville was one of the signers of the Articles of Secession for Georgia.
