E2046 Asuka Plugsuit
This figure is from E2046, from their “Gathering” series, which feature pre-painted resin cast figures. This figure is also part of their “Ori” line, which denotes original in-house designs.
The “Ori” moniker aside, it’s quite obvious that this figure’s design draws more than a passing inspiration from Yamato’s Asuka figure, especially in the design and look of the plug-suit.
The paintwork is only fair, and cannot stand up to close scrutiny, especially under a macro lens. There were some areas where the paint was splotchy, and the fine black detailing in the suit was a little rough and un-even. The cast off pieces on the chest was also painted a different shade of red from the rest of the suit.
Since this is a resin cast figure, care has to be taken when handling the figure, since paint doesn’t seem stick as well as with PVC figurines. And because resin is a less dense and more brittle material than PVC, it is also likely to suffer damage if accidentally dropped.
A fairly heavy base is provided, and the figure is attached to the base by means of a pin in the right foot. Since it’s only attached by one foot, it does offer some flexibility in posing the figure by swiveling it left or right without actually moving the base.
