Hokus Pokus Liquor 1, US 90, Lake Charles, LA

Drive the Old Spanish Trail, America’s most fascinating historic highway.

From Jacksonville, Florida, take US 90 to San Antonio, Texas; then US 290 (or US 90) to Van Horn, Texas; then US 80 to Boulevard, California; then US 80 or CA 94 to sunny San Diego; then jump into the Pacific and have a swell swim.

Wow, hadn't seen this sign in some times....maybe 50 years ! Used to go in there with my Mom when I was a kid. I grew up in a town about 50 miles north of Lake Charles, which was in a dry parish !

Good to hear of your memories. The liquor store was doing steady business in 2003. We asked the proprietors to turn on the sign. It looks like a spooky yam to me.

I grew up in Lake Charles and I remember that sign on Broad street. It always fascinated me to see the wings flapping as we past.

That is a new sign, not the original one .... it still looks the same just newer. When i was young i thought it was a moving carrot... lol...
