isla vista in 2009
an unincorporated community on approximately 0.6 square miles; the only neighborhood sharing a border with the main ucsb campus. two of iv's other borders are the beach and a nature preserve. it is close to a small airport and within range of the train whistle and a fog horn.

it is a walkable place with inconsistent sidewalks, dull and eccentric apartment buildings, murals on houses, and beach towels on fences.

it has a ton of history for an area that was mostly undeveloped before the 1950s.

some people call it a slum or a ghetto or a shantytown, but they don't what they're talking about.
