Blade Runner, set in Los Angeles, was inspired by Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, set in San Francisco. Blade Runner famously overlays its future LA on recognizable landmarks: the elaborate Bradbury Building, the shiny 2nd Street Tunnel, the neo-Mayan Ennis-Brown House, Union Station, etc. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is less celebrated, but it's also fairly specific about its geography, mentioning Lombard, Mission Street, Geary, Sutter, the War Memorial Opera House, etc. I recently re-read it and tried to imagine its San Francisco laid out over the one I know. This is a mix of imaginary locations for the book and movie. See also: The Philip K. Dick Walking Tour of San Francisco by John Gorenfeld.
