So yesterday I had my first on site shoot (at my own work but still)
I had to shoot all new first year student for their portfolio site and internal usage. Quite a fun thing to do and very educational for myself. I had the convenience of using the studio I manage so I had stands and space to boot.
Things I’ve learned:
Using a black background is stylish, but inpractical, I should opt for a grey one since a lot of the students either had black hair, black clothes or dark skintones.
Two lights are fine for dramatic shoots, but for portrait shots with different people, clothing and colors a third light would be prefered to light them from behind, so they would stand out and add a bit of depth to the image.
Reflection screens are quite handy
People are more nervous in front of the camera then the photographer ;-)
An assistent would be nice
