Stefano #267

Yet another lull with life taking over and urban portraits becoming more difficult but I manage to get back out there - or at least meet one more stranger last week in London.

I was visiting London with my wife, children, in-laws and my dog (which got more attention that anyone else all day).

I had opted to not take my usual camera gear with me this summer when travelling with the family (I wanted to carry some lighter kit) so was only armed with my Sony nex and 50mm MF lens (my early street portrait combo) when my son who is 12 andI spotted a suitable stranger in Covent Garden and we quickly approached together!

It was the glasses, facial hair, hat combo that grabbed my attention so I lurched into my pitch and met a lovely guy who was happy to stop for a photo or two. Stefan (or Stefano) is from Italy and was on his way to work in one of the nearby bars in Covent Garden - a popular tourist area in London.

After the shots and the handing over of a mini card with a link to my facebook page and project my son looked at me, grinned and muttered: " Does nobody ever say no!" more a statement than a question having witnessed a few of my random street encounters.

I turned to find the rest of my family and they were all hanging around on the corner trying not to look to embarrassed at my randomness!

It was fun to use the old yashica lens again but to be honest I really missed my usual setup and am looking forward to getting out with my gear next weekend in London again!
