Lizzie #265

I went out at the weekend to Nottingham with the intention of shooting some street portraits and trying out some lighting techniques.

I took an assistant with me to carry gear (the infamous Boardman) and another photographer was joining me later to experience the world of street portraits which was ideal as I want to develop street portrait workshops at some point so love the chance to help and teach others about this form of portraiture and how to engage a stranger!

Lizzie was the first person I bumped into, I had originally seen her in the Old MArket Square with a friend and they were deep in conversation so I didn't disturb her. The day was super bright and sunny and I had a scrim with me so asked her if I could use her as a model and she was happy to get involved.

For this shot I had my assistant hold the scrim just above her head to diffuse the natural light and was shooting with my 24-70 2.8L having made a decision to spend a few weeks away from my 70-200 lens to push myself to play around with angles and distance more.

Lizzie is from London (which is super cool as I was there last weekend shooting portraits) and is studying creative writing.
