Painting with Light

This image was inspired by this week's Macro Mondays group theme of "Brush."

Interesting that I have been wanting to do this type of MACRO photo for a while. It requires the use of rear curtain flash (yes, it is a setting for your flash where it will go off at the LAST possible moment before the (rear) shutter closes), a black backdrop with a darkened room, a remote, and (of course) a long exposure setting.

The setup was with a soft light camera left. After several attempts to figure out the logistics of light strength and flash strength, how to twist the brush to get the best effect, and there you have it...! I should also state that, other than some curves adjustment for contrast and dynamic range and the watermark, this shot is SOOC. And in looking at the "original size" on the screen, the image is a bit more than 3x larger than the original fan brush...

This also may qualify for the ODC theme of ABSTRACT...

As always, thanks for your views and comments!
