Rule: Watch Your Horizon Line
Early on, one of the simple rules you learn in photograpyy is to be careful with the horizon line on your landscape shots, especially the water ones because, as I was told, "You don't want the water all running off the side of the photo."
This warning served as today's inspiration for the ODC theme of DUTCH ANGLE, which according to Wikipedia is a "term used for one of many cinematic techniques often used to portray the psychological uneasiness or tension in the subject being filmed. A Dutch angle is achieved by tilting the camera off to the side so that the shot is composed with vertical lines at an angle to the side of the frame. "
