Mr. Karel Schinzel patented the 3-layer colour photography process called "katachromy" in 1905 in Vienna.
Even after some "experts" called his patent as "unrealistic" in 1922, Eastman Kodak found his research on this topic so interesting, that they invited him to Rochester later on.
Their product "Kodachrome" and Agfa's "Agfacolor" are based on his patents, produced first in 1935.
Kodak bought 27 of Karel Schinzel's patents in 1936.
In 1937 Kodak contacted Karel Schinzel again to help them solve some problems with the mass production of colour photographies...
