The hike to Avalanche Creek is a very easy one along a wooden boardwalk called the Trail of the Cedars. After only about 1/2 mile you come across footbridge that gives you your first glimpse of Avalanche Gorge. The bridge is narrow with only one small location that offers a decent view of the gorge. As a result, you'll see lots of people lining up to get into that prime location to get a photograph of the gorge.
However, if you go across the bridge and hang a left onto the Avalanche Lake Trail, and up a short steep hill, the view changes completely. As you reach the top of the hill, you find yourself above the gorge with a totally different, and totally amazing view.
