Male Mountain Bluebird

This is a set of Bluebirds..There are three species in North America. I got this male Mountain Bluebird today near Elk Island National Park. The Eastern Bluebird was taken in Kentucky last May, and the Western Bluebird was taken south of Phoenix in February this year.

In terms of identification, the Mountain Bluebird has no orange at all in either gender and is easy to identify. Eastern Bluebirds are orange or rufous under the throat and have a white belly. Western Bluebirds have a blue throat and a blue belly.
