Another bathtub set. All of these images were taken from an open bathroom window while I was standing in a bathtub. I was able to get close shots of Tree Sparrows, House Finches, and Juncos.
Tree Sparrows breed across the subarctic of North America. We see them fairly regularly during the spring and fall migrations. Some will overwinter here in Edmonton. This species has a bicolored bill and very distinct white wing bars which help to distinguish it from the Chipping Sparrow. it also has a rufous eye line with gray above it. Chipping Sparrows have a dark eye line with white above it. They both have a rufous cap. The tree Sparrow also has a dark spot in the center of the breast which can be seen in the image below.
