Tule Elk, Cervus canadensis nannodes, San Luis National Wildlife Refuge
During our pilgrimage to the Merced national Wildlife Refuge, We stopped in to see the San Luis Wildlife Refuge nearby. They have a new visitors center which has a great educational area. One of the local photographers , Roger Zachary has an image being used in one of the displays. Way to go Roger! During our visit, we drove around looking for the Tule Elk that are here. We were not disappointed! Two males and several females were in close enough to get some photos. If you get a chance, I highly recommend stopping in and checking out the new Visitors Center.
