74/365 March 15 - Terracotta Warriors

Seeing the Terracotta Warriors was, by far, my favourite part of the trip. Walking into Pit 1, where 6000 warriors and horses are displayed, was awe inspiring. Pit 1 was discovered by a farmer digging a well back in 1974 and they have been excavating ever since. According to our guide, it could take 200 years to complete the excavation. Each of the warriors has been broken into many pieces and must be reassembled for display. As you can see, each warrior is unique in facial structure and expression. We spent about two hours walking around the four pits. There will be more photos of this site as I go through them.
