Red, White and Blue
Seen in Muskingum County, Ohio on the way home from a visit to a former high school classmate. I'd wondered about the tanks on the farm, so I emailed friend Bob, a retired chemical engineer.
"Hi Don These tanks are used to contain crude oil which comes from the gas wells, the oil is separated from the gas and each of these two tanks are hooked up with a separator before it is metered into the Columbia Gas Line. The tanks are 100 barrels, with a barrel to the inch, when almost full a truck comes and pumps it out and it is trucked to St Marys Wva where the Quaker State Refinery is located. This crude is
excellent with Viscosity Index properties for multi Viscosity
motor oil for cars.
The tanks belong to Becky Barry with the red barn behind located at 8505 Matchett Rd. The driller of the well gets 40 % of the oil sold and all the gas revenue, and must maintain the well to give the land owner free gas."
