Simca ad in Newsweek

I photograophed and interviewed the two Ohio Simca owners. This ad was one of a series of former VW owners who had switched to Simca during the 70's.

Chrysler ran this ad in Newsweek.

I followed an ad agency layout when I covvered the assignment from Sickles Photo Reporting Service. And I was impressed by the owners, satisfaction with their Simcas. They weren't paid except a small fee for signing a release.

Interesting history of Simca:

I always had a sweet spot for the Simca 1000. I did not know Chrysler ran it in the States.

Very good ad! And I remember what excellent advertising VW had during this era.

I would have a hard time giving up a VW for almost anything....certainly don't remember the name Simca....

these were fairly popular here in NZ in the early 70's too. haven't seen one in 20 years though in stark contrast to VW beetles from the time. cool ad, Don!

Chrysler ran Simca everywhere in the world, from 1963 through 1978, even changing the name to Chrysler France in 1970. The Simca name lived on till about 1981, when all former Simca, Chrysler-Simca, Matra-Simca and Talbot-Simca models were called Talbot.
