Hartwell Hamby Palmer, 1860s?

Private Hartwell Hamby Palmer. Went by "Hamby" and is also listed in censuses as "H.H." Served with brother, Capt. Oroon Alston Palmer, in the Confederate Army, Companies D&E, 41st Regiment North Carolina Troops, 3rd NC Cavalry. Born 26 April 1838 Goldston, Chatham Co., NC. Died 23 May 1911, buried at Carbonton Methodist Church, Carbonton, Chatham Co., NC. Husband of Eliza Jane Christian (20 Oct 1840-25 Nov 1911.) His great Grandson, Cecil Ray Palmer installed the CSA Southern Cross of Honor at his burial site in 2007.

Copy of photo of Hartwell Hamby Palmer. Original photograph owned by Margaret Palmer Cobb. I am assuming that this was taken in the early 1860s, as he is wearing a uniform.
