You can't see it here, but we set the large-sized pieces on a forced perspective oversized chess board that I made out of art board and hand-cut Letraset squares. The large-scale pieces sat on larger squares in foreground tapering off to smaller squares in the background, where we stood the smaller chess pieces. When we filmed them with a wide angle lens, it made it feel like the chess board went on for miles. At least, that was the plan.
