10.4.16 Denver Team8 Tour
We teamed up with CBS EcoMedia and The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation for the "Team8 Tour," a series of volunteer projects and youth programs designed to help build character, teach critical life lessons and encourage healthy choices that will impact thousands of young people across the country. The newest high school in Denver, Northfield has a vision of creating an inclusive and tough academic program, designed to erase academic divides by offering the rigorous International Baccalaureate program to all kids. More than 60 percent of students are eligible for free and reduced lunch, and the need for healthy food options and physical activity is high. In partnership with Northfield High School and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, volunteers will spend the day building a new food pantry for kids who may need food at home, packing healthy take-home meals, outfitting a home economics classroom, and leading fitness activities for local students. The day will end with volunteers preparing a community dinner for all event participants, including volunteers, students, Boys & Girls Club kids, parents, teachers and neighbors.
