This quaint little one-room pub by the side of the Bildeston-Lavenham road (A1141) still manages to stay open, despite not doing meals and having a limited range of beers. As well as being beside a busy road, this must be partly owing to the "genuine museum experience", as little appears to have changed inside for at least 100 years. As well as appearing in the CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) Guide, the pub also is approved by CAMROT (Campaign for Real Outside Toilets).
In the latter half of the 19th century, the pub was owned and run by five successive generations of the Underwood family. In the first quarter of the 20th century, the landlord was appropriately named Walter Beere.
