Diverge
Once a bustling junction station, Mangalore is but a shadow of its former self. Broad gauge trains used to deviate here, heading for Albury or Shepparton. Nowadays, the station and platform are demolished, the Shepparton line has been re-aligned some 20m west, and the broad gauge line to Albury was converted to standard gauge in 2010.
In what looks like an idyllic country scene, far removed from the heyday of the station's past, R761 leans into the curve as it thunders past with Steamrail's Echuca Explorer.
