The mountain goes by several names: Baldy, Old Baldy, Mount San Antonio. At more than 10,000 feet it's the highest in the San Gabriel Mountains, and third highest in Southern California — behind Mt. San Gorgonio and Mt. San Jacinto. All these shots are either of Baldy, or include it. What makes Baldy so distinctive is its proximity to Los Angeles. It's as close to downtown L.A. as Anaheim or Malibu. In snowy winters (rainy ones below), the skiing can be remarkably good. The snowiest pictures among these were taken not long after a storm had dumped nine feet of snow on the slopes.
