Here I visit Amazon with Firefox, where I have Adblock+ running, plus all tracking blocked. Here the display ad on the right gets blocked, and I still see the ads for New Dresses and Women's Running shoes, telling me that Amazon probably does not think I'm gay (or otherwise not a standard-issue straight male). Not all cookies are turned off, so Amazon does know this is me (and says so up top there). But what we still have is bad social and economic signaling, overall, given how much Amazon knows about me by this point. (I've been a customer since 1995.)
