Pangong Tso : The Brown-Headed gulls

"Adventure in the Land of the Ancient Gods"

LADAKH : Day 4

Pangong Tso is among the biggest salt water lakes in the whole of Asia. It is situated at the frightening altitude of 4,250 meters asl (13,940 ft). The lake is a crystal clear sheet of water that is spread over more than 100 km across the border of two countries India and China. There are a few brahminy ducks and brown-headed gulls that can be seen when it is the migratory season for the birds. During summer, these Brown-headed gulls migrate and breeds in the marshes and bogs of the Central Asian plateau and high-altitude lakes of Ladakh in India (among them Pangong Tso).
