Rainier Wildflowers

Wow! What a morning on Mazama Ridge with fellow photographers David Irons (Fresnatic), Dene' Miles, Tom Schwabel, and Scott. (Scott has not yet made his work available on the internet) What a great bunch of photographers. Be sure and check out their work... very inspiring!

The day started off with pulling into the Paradise lower parking lot at 2:45 AM. Ya, I know, nuts. The sky was incredible. No city lights to pollute the sky and the Milky Way was directly overhead - plainly visible to the naked eye.

We hoofed it up to Mazama Ridge via the 4th crossing trail. I must admit, I was not ready for this climb so early in the morning and on so little sleep. (2 hours) I think I could have probably jettisoned 10 lbs from my pack as well. So anyway, after running around like kids looking for Easter Eggs, we settled on a spot high on the ridge and waited... and waited... and waited for the sun to do its magic on the mountain. Sadly, we didn't get much color out of it today.

But hey! We still came away with some awesome photos! We topped off the morning with an awesome (and well deserved) breakfast inside the Lodge at Paradise. I was perfectly content after a full plate of food, good coffee, and a tall glass of orange juice.

Thanks for looking and hope everyone had an awesome weekend!

PS. See if you can spot Jiminy Cricket in this photo.
