Reading Adventures with Dad at Phillips
Phillips Traditional School held their annual Reading Adventures with Dad event on November 15th. Students and families came to hear animated performances by local readers. The Toughest Cowboy, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Gingerbread Girl Goes Animal Crackers, Titanicat, Me Want Pet, How to Babysit a Grandpa, The Lorax, The Bicycle Man, Pete the Cat, Let’s Go Froggy!, and Looking at Lincoln were read in eleven decorated rooms. Tom Colvin from ARL, Lewis Major from Polk County Conservation, Dan Raymond and Erick David from 107.1, Metinka Slater from KCCI, Dan Wardell from IPTV, and other DMPS staff read for the crowds of parents and children. After each ten-minute story, the students were given a snack or prize before they would rotate to a new reading room. The PTA at Phillips organized the event in an effort to promote reading for their students.
