2019 Summit on School Climate and Culture
For the fourth consecutive year Des Moines Public Schools hosted the Summit on School Climate and Culture, welcoming more than 2,400 educators from across Iowa and 26 other states. The national conference was held August 12-13 at the Iowa Events Center The Summit covers several areas including the latest research and best practices for improving student behavior; learning how a multi-cultural classroom can be an asset; identifying the social and emotional needs of students; and addressing issues ranging from race to gender to poverty and more. Keynote speakers at this year's event included Dr. Pedro Antonio Noguera, Dr. Benita Love, Brittany Packnett, and Robert Rivera.
