Take A Stand For Freedom.
In honor of International Women’s Day, I wanted to do a photo to raise awareness of sex trafficking. Human trafficking is the largest and fastest growing criminal industry in the world, and around 27 million today are victims of it around the world. About 80% of it is sex trafficking, which is primarily young women ages 9-19. These girls are approached by the predators who promise them things like a better job, clothing, education, money, and overall a better life. Many girls in other countries have to work to support their families, and often work for very low wages and look for better opportunities in other countries. So this seems like a dream, when in reality they’re about to experiencing a living nightmare. The girls are then forced to work as prostitutes, be in pornographic films, dance as strippers, and so on. Their pimps addict them to drugs and they are always locked in their rooms with no way to escape. And this doesn’t just happen overseas – an estimated 100,000 girls are trafficked right here in the United States. This has gone on for far too long, and the best way to end it is to raise awareness. Yup, this is happening right in our midst.
If this is going to stop, we need to raise awareness. So tweet about it, reblog it, share it; let's make this known.
