    Baker's - sadly missed. I remember, as a schoolboy, pressing my nose against the window coveting the N guage model railway engines. Never did get one.

      How fondly I remember Bakers! Got a top of the range Scalextric from there aged about 9 and then got a brand new Raleigh Carlton Continental racing bike when I was about 11, a reward for passing the 11 plus

      Oh yes, Bakers! Bikes, prams and model trains. The family lived up Wendover Road. A proper English family business.

      And Bakers also had a distinct but not unpleasant aroma. I think it must have been something to do with the wooden floor and rubber matting - and possibly bike tyres. Fond memories
