This is the most famous beach in Greece. It lies on the western shore of Zakynthos among a unique landscape of steep hills coming down to the sea. On the beach lies a shipwreck which gives the beach its famous name. In 1980 (1981?) this ship was trying to escape Navy ships tailing it as it was alleged to smuggle cigarettes. The ship came across bad weather and was abandoned only to be washed ashore and give this beach its characteristic name.
If you plan to visit it be advised that it is only accessed by boat and that you should go in the afternoon or very early in the morning when there are very few people there. This shot was taken from the top of the hill above the beach where there is a balcony hundreds of meters above the sea and the view is spectacular.
This is a panoramic image stitched by 6 individual shots and I used Photoshop to remove a few people and boats. The colours of the beach are as you see them here. :)
