240/365 - Allspice
Realized it's been a while since I've added to my collection of spice shots, so I broke out the allspice for a photo session tonight. After a half hour of fiddling, I got a composition that I liked, then decided the lead allspice berry was a little ugly-looking. So, I spent another five minutes picking out a better one from the jar to re-shoot it. Only took about 20 exposures all told, but still let my obsessive side run the show.
Allspice is one of my favorite spices: it pairs well with both heat and sweet (allspice, chiles, vinegar, and molasses blended together makes a pretty good basting sauce for poultry and pork), it's nice in a lot of baked goods and mulled wine, and I keep a bottle of bottle of St. Elizabeth's Allspice Dram around for cocktails (particularly this one).
