115/365 - Can I Buy a Vowel?
Ever have one of those games?
Figured I'd try to set something up with the Scrabble tiles tonight, and this is the result. Had a bear of a time trying to figure out how to light this; the shadows are still a bit harder than I'd like, but overall I think it's pretty reasonable. I limited myself a bit by going with a relatively small aperture to get the DoF to keep the board reasonably clear.
This was lit by two strobes: one camera right and aimed left-ish and about 2 feet up, direct, center weighted, 50mm zoom, 1/1.7 power; the other camera left and behind, about 3 feet up, aimed at the center of the board, 28mm zoom, 1/1.3 power through a white umbrella. There was also a silver reflector camera left, in an attempt to fill the shadows a bit by reflecting the first flash, but I don't think it really contributed that much. I tried a few different configurations, including bouncing (which made things too flat), but after an hour of fiddling I decided to call it a day with this one.
Nikon D7000 w/Nikkor 18-200mm @ 52mm, 1/250s @ ƒ/19, ISO100. Lit as described above.
