Pelican Nebula (Narrowband)

The Pelican Nebula (IC 5070) is often seen in images along with its bigger and brighter neighbour, the North American Nebula. It stands on its own as well with lots of intricate detail. Besides a pelican, many people find that it also resembles a rabbit or a pteradactyl.

This false colour image maps the emission lines Sulfur-II to red, Hydrogen-alpha to green, and Oxygen-III to blue.
