1:72 Mikojan-Gurevich MiG-33SE (NATO code 'Foghorn', a.k.a. 'Izdeliye 33'); VPAF, late 90ies (WiP)
A new year, and a new Group Build at whatifmodelers.com. This time it's a "Cold War" theme, spanning the whole post WWII period until the fall of the Wall Of Berlin.
My (first) submission will be a model of the rather unknown and hapless MiG 'Izdeliye 33', a light fighter not unlike the F-16 that was axed due to lack of funding and the Soviet/Russian Air Force doctrine not to operate single engine combat aircraft anymore.
But it could have become an export design, a simpler replacement for the MiG-21 than the MiG-29?
Major surgery to follow, because I will convert a (crappy) Nakotne MiG-29 into a single engine aircraft and try to come close to the Izdeliye 33 outlines.
Challenging start into 2016! :D
