140613 Charity Day Mill Green
22 players teed off at Mill Green Golf Club, Hertfordshire where the Disabled Golf Association are the Captain's Charity for 2014 season. 7 groups teed off each accompanied by a member from Mill Green not only to give some welcome advice on the course layout to our disabled players, but to help raise awareness that disabled and impaired golfers can play some awesome golf!
The event was classed as a 'DGA local' event and our own results were - front 9 winner Dave Thompson (MS, Bournemouth), and in the 18-hole competition 3rd with 33points was Stan Bembenek (one leg, Sandmartins GC, Berks); 2nd with 36points was Rob Grant (MS, Cams Hall GC, Hants); and the winner with a handicap-cutting 43 points was - Keith Pickering (Arthritis, Thorpness GC, Suffolk).
Mill Green GC also kindly provided prizes for nearest the pin and the straightest drive, as well as 2nd and 1st place teams, with the winning team being Dave Thompson, Rob Grant, and Graham from Mill Green making the 3rd member of the group.
A fantastic day was had by all; all DGA members reported back how much they enjoy this format playing with members of the hosting club so many thanks to Mill Green GC.
