When the Children Cry

    Newer Older

Little child dry your crying eyes, how can I explain the fear you feel inside cause you were born
into this evil world where man is killing man and no one knows just why. what we have become,
just look what we have done all that we destroyed you must build again.

When the children cry, let them know we tried cause when the children sing then the new world begins.
Little child you must show the way to a better day for all the young cause you were born
for all the world to see that we all can live with love and peace.
No more presidents and all the wars will end one united world under god.

    "When the Children cry"
Lyrics and song By White lion

This little child was crying when we approach her, when we reach right in front of her. She stop crying altogether. The fumes produce by the charcoal making process is unbearable and i am tearing like crazy, I don't know how those kids survive out there. It's tough on an adult like me, i can't imagine a kid going through such condition.

Yeap she was crying when we are quite a distance away. When we approach she stop crying.
I guess our presence calm her down.

Hi there. This is a really powerful image.

I'm sourcing images for a short film I'm trying to put together. It's going to be a movie made entirely of stills (see my test clip here - www.vimeo.com/13073601) and is, loosely speaking, a movie set in the not too distant future after man has destroyed the planet.

Would you mind if I used your image in the film? There's no budget so no fee but anyone whose picture I use will be credited and hopefully, in a few months time, the film will be done. If nothing else it will be interesting piece of collaborative art and it might even go to some film festivals...

      Let me know!

Hi Sami Abusamra, Well if the image is gonna help some poor kids i won't mind. Your link is broken. We can go into details about using my images? just drop me a message. I will be flying off soon. Any way fill me in with more details on how are u going to use my image.

Sure thing - it's basically a film about the environment, albeit quite an abstract take on the matter. If you check my test clip out you'll get an idea of how the stills will work as 'video'.

      Here's that link again:
      www.vimeo.com/13073601

As for the narrative, well, it's essentially a lone camera roaming round all the corners of the globe. In this future-world the camera sees little more than destruction/decay but to hammer home the human aspect of the story I want to use some well selected portraits too. These will be from across the ages and will represent, I hope, the full gamut of human experience and emotion. So as well as incorporating images of, for example, a middle aged couple happy at home in the 1930s we'll see images such as yours. A stark representation of the pain and suffering that many people already endure and that many more will be forced in to if the oceans/temperatures etc rise as they are expected to over the next few decades.

These portraits, and by extension the film as a whole, will function as a reminder of what we stand to lose and also, more crucially, a reminder that we are all responsible for our future and if we don't stop, think and act NOW we might just run our of time.

Hope that's enough of an explanation. There's not much else to say!

It's a private project so as I said, there's no budget and therefore no fee but I must stress that it's also non-profit. Hopefully, you feel like you want to let your work suport the message and join in in the spirit of collaboration.

Look forward to hearing from you again.
      (Enjoy your flight).
