The ruins of Ephesus are regarded as the best-preserved Greco-Roman ruins in the eastern Mediterranean. The city is known among Christians as the recipient of Paul the Apostle's Epistle to the Ephesians, and Paul himself is known to have come here and preached in the amphitheater. It is also listed as one of the Seven Churches of Asia in the Book of Revelation. Today the nearest civilization is Selçuk, Turkey, which is just a short drive away. We took a night bus to Selçuk and stayed three nights at the ANZ Guesthouse. One of those days was mostly taken up by our visit to the Ephesus ruins, which are simply stunning. See for yourself.
