This started from reading about a drink called Wie Bitte from Der Raum in Melbourne which combines Amaro Montenegro, sweet vermouth, cardamom & orange bitters. "Wie bitte" can be translated from German as "Beg your pardon?"

This is a very small apertif and would be best paired with a lamb appetizer.

Begin by crushing a few green cardomom pods and putting them in sweet vermouth. Allow .5oz sweet vermouth per drink plus an extra half ounce to contain the residue of seeds.

While that's steeping gather your other ingredients & prepare the appetizers to serve.

.5oz Amaro Montenegro

.5oz sweet vermouth which has had cardamom steeping in it for at least 5 or 10 minutes

.25oz Lillet

2 dashes orange bitters

Shake with ice to chill and add icemelt

Serve in small chilled glasses.
