Decorative arts, often defined as the design and decoration of functional objects, include glassware, furniture, ceramics, textiles, basketry, and clocks. Artist's and craftsmen commonly incorporated Masonic symbols into their designs in the 1700s and 1800s; a period of rapid growth for American Masonic and fraternal organizations. This album is just a sample of the hundreds of Masonic decorative arts objects in the collection. Many of the objects in this album are featured in the 1976 book, Masonic Symbols in American Decorative Arts, written by Barbara Franco and published by the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library.
