Never in my life did I ever think I'd go to Sweden... but last month I went and it was absolutely incredible. I had the most amazing time and it was terribly difficult to leave.... this kid being a big part of that. He would make big splashes as he jumped into the lake, he'd ask if you wanted to swim out to the rocks, when asked how the water was, he'd reply, "It's lovely!" We'd chat on our bikes to and from the lake about England and Sweden and America. He loved playing cards and cooking and borrowing my camera to take photos. He said he wanted to be a photographer. He'd help his parents take care of his younger brothers, though accidentally caused his littlest brother to get hurt and cry 3 or 4 times. He felt really bad about it. He had scars from mosquito bites and scrapes from just being a boy, playing around in nature all summer. And that's just it, he and his brothers were being real boys - running around, playing, swimming, riding their bikes, and just enjoying every bit of summer. It was, in this day of video games and television, a very welcome sight.
