Juan Luna's " Ensuenos de Amor "

    Newer Older

Art critics say in this painting, the subject is less important than the style, which is Luna at his spontaneous best. There is more genuine feeling here than in most larger Luna works. In the words of E. Aguilar Cruz : To those who are aware of the family tragedy that was to haunt Luna for the rest of his life, this painting has a certain poignancy beneath its light hearted surface.

yeah, i read that luna killed his wife in a fit of jealousy. it was said that the pardo de taveras poisoned him in hong kong in revenge. don't know about that. but he sure is a great painter.

there is a new born baby in the whole painting. it can be argued that it's Maria dela Paz Pardo de Tavera.

i saw this piece last saturday, it's good they gave you permission to take the picture.

peeking at a woman while asleep is i believe the highest form of compliment. maybe the reason why he shot her dead.
