dinner and drinks

this was what we'd usually have after a day of trekking...

 

the big wooden containers with the straws...thats tong baa or chang or millet beer...the local liquor...there's a method to drinking it...you add hot water to top off the container...then you wait for a few minutes...the millet seeds burst and the juice inside mixes with the hot water giving you a nice gentle buzz when you drink it...

 

this shot was taken at latuk, east sikkim...and this was our first course after returning from khedi...

 

in case you're wondering about the meat...its chicken :)...although later that evening we did have another local speciality - mon paha, a kind of toad usually found under stones near the streams...
